Divining Bowl explores the phenomenon known as the overview effect, described by Wikipedia as "a cognitive shift in awareness reported by some astronauts and cosmonauts during spaceflight, often while viewing the earth from orbit or from the lunar surface."
The film was made by recording a projection of Earth as it passed across the dark backdrop of a forest at night. It was filmed from a moving car.
Divining bowl was shown as part of the 17th annual Antimatter Film Festival in 2014, at UVIC's Ideafest in 2015, and during various guerilla street art projections around the city of Victoria, BC.
Unsanctioned screening at Dallas Road Beach, Victoria, BC.
